Mission and Vision
The Humboldt County RCBA is a collaborative community project devoted to the education of youth and adults in our community for the responsible breeding and raising of rabbits and cavy. HCRBA members and participants develop positive self-esteem through activities geared towards enhancing skills and knowledge of rabbit and cavy husbandry and through a positive competitive environment.
The vision of this organization is to become the primary source of information and education to promote responsible rabbit and cavy breeding in Humboldt County, CA.

Purpose
Humboldt County RCBA (HCRCBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promotion of responsible rabbit raising. In addition, we provide a support network for breeders of all ages in Humboldt County and beyond, put out a monthly newsletter of current happenings and rabbit-related articles. Along with providing education and support to our members, we have united in the vision to bring a new, ARBA-sanctioned rabbit show, featuring two open shows and one youth show, ideally by July of 2012.
About Us
We are a closeknit group that cares deeply about our members, and our community at large. We believe that providing a network of support for breeders not only benefits the rabbit and cavy breeding community, but reaches beyond to support our general community, and possibly even surrounding counties.
Motivation, self-esteem, and focus are positive attributes for community members of any age. These are qualities we aim to foster in our members. Having a support network provides education. Learning provides focus. Having a rabbit show to look forward to, here in Humboldt County, gives our youth (leaders of tomorrow) and adults (leaders of today) something to look forward to, something that gears us to focus in order to achieve our very best in our breeding programs (yes, anyone can breed rabbits or cavies... but improving upon a breed takes brains, focus, and motivation). Some may not be able to show, due to distance. Well, having a show within our own community removes this barrier.
HCRCBA was founded by Heather Ponsano, longtime member of the rabbit community, in 2011. It did not take long before she gathered the support of a group of appreciative local, and surrounding county, breeders, who supported her vision. This initial group now serves as the Executive Officers and Board of Directors. In addition to founding the group, Heather now serves as Treasurer/Secretary. The officers and directors would like to thank Heather for her hard work and determination in founding this group. Without Heather, HCRCBA would not exist.
Thank you for your interest in our group! We are extremely grateful to our wonderful members for their support of our goals and visions. Additionally, our members mean a lot to us, and we will make every effort in order for you to feel supported and satisfied, as a member of HCRCBA. Thanks for all that you bring to the group.
